The 2019 Local Songwriters Contest will kick off Pop Up Oxford, a week long festival celebrating the food, music, arts and culture of Oxford, Mississippi.
The songwriters contest returns with additional partners, new prizes, and a great space. Yoknapatawpha Arts Council is now accepting submissions.
Prizes for this year extend beyond cash awards to include performances on Thacker Mountain Radio and a booking on the Summer Sunset Series.
Here is a list of prizes for the 2019 event:
First Place: $500 and a spot on Thacker Mountain Radio
(based on mutually agreed upon dates for live performance)
Second Place: $250
Third Place: $100
Performance Prize: A paid booking at the LOU Summer Sunset Series (must be available 1st Sunday in June 2019)
Audience Award: A $50 award will be determined by vote from the audience as to their favorite song of the Showcase
Finalist Prize: Oxford Recording Studio single recording session including up to 6-hours of recording, mixing and mastering. All finalists who perform at the contest will be entered in this drawing
