Today the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting just 274 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 32 deaths. Nineteen of these deaths occurred between July 8 and August 24, and were identified through death certificates. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 82,950, with 2,473 deaths.
Currently there are 662 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection. There are currently 201 people hospitalized in intensive care for confirmed COVID-19.
There are now 158 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff).
