The 20th Annual Oxford Film Festival is screening two films at the Ford Center on the University of Mississippi Campus. The Poor and Hungry will be screening from 3–6 pm and The Crisis from 6–7 pm.
The Poor and Hungry screened at the first Oxford Film Festival in 2003. Filmed in 2002, The Poor and Hungry, stars Lindsey Roberts who will be in attendance for a Q&A following the film. The Poor and Hungry is about a Memphis car thief who falls in love with one of his victims, an attractive cellist.
The Crisis is a 1916 silent film that was filmed in Vicksburg, Mississippi and produced by Selig Polyscope Company. Accompanying the film will be a live performance of the original score by local musician Damein Wash featuring several talented local musicians.
This screening of The Crisis is the first public showing in North Mississippi for over 100 years. Current executives from Selig Polyscope will be available after the film to answer any questions.
