Highly anticipated music festival returns June 2 & 3, 2023 with a great lineup, local food & drinks, and a new philanthropic mission
Cathead Distillery, Mississippi’s first and oldest legal distillery, is set to bring back the popular annual music festival, Cathead Jam, on Friday, June 2 & Saturday, June 3, 2023.
After a three-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, the Jackson-based distillery with a mission to “Support Live Music” will host a weekend filled with musical performances, local food & drinks, games, and good times for the Jackson community.
The two-day festival, which welcomed over 5,000 attendees and hosted bands like The Revivalists, Umphrey’s McGee, and Greensky Bluegrass in 2019, has plans to return even bigger and better this summer with more artists, dialed in food offerings from local chefs, craft brews from Jackson’s brewery, Fertile Ground Beer Co., and of course, craft cocktails made with Cathead Distillery’s award-winning line of small batch spirits.
“After three summers with no Jam, we’ve got a lot of lost times to make up for,” said Richard Patrick, Co-Founder of Cathead Distillery. “We’ve always said Cathead Jam was a music festival for Jackson, so we’re excited to partner with even more locally owned restaurants, businesses, and brands to make this year’s festival one for the books.”

Support Live Music
In addition to partnering with locally owned music & event management company Ardenland for the fifth consecutive year, Cathead Jam is now owned by non-profit Dreamnote Foundation, which was formed in 2022 by Cathead Distillery Co-Founders Richard Patrick and Austin Evans alongside friends and partners Arden Barnett and Matthew McLaughlin.
All proceeds from Cathead Jam go to Dreamnote, a 501(c)3 committed to improving access to music throughout Mississippi in underserved communities.
“It’s exciting that Cathead Jam is back and that this year there’s a mission behind it. The Cathead team has created a music festival for our capital city, and now they’ve decided to give all proceeds to an important cause,” said Dreamnote Board Member Lauren Engle.
“Dream Note was founded by four music lovers and business leaders committed to Mississippi, and this foundation is going to ensure more kids in Mississippi have access to music programs. That’s something everyone can get behind.”
The event will be held at Cathead Distillery at 422 S. Farish Street in Jackson, Mississippi.

About Cathead Distillery
The first legal distillery in the state of Mississippi, Cathead Distillery was founded in 2010 by friends and blues fans Austin Evans and Richard Patrick. Located in the heart of downtown Jackson, the distillery currently produces seven award-winning, small batch spirits—Cathead Original Vodka, Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka, Cathead Bitter Orange Vodka, Bristow Gin, Hoodoo Chicory Liquor, and Old Soul Bourbon Whiskey—as well as a line of canned cocktails, Cathead Sparkling.
Cathead Distillery is a 2020 James Beard semi-finalist for Outstanding Spirits Producer and is celebrated not only for its authentic products, but a strong commitment to their community.
The name “Cathead,” a term first coined by Mississippi blues musicians as a nod to respected artists, is the brand’s way of paying homage to the state’s rich musical heritage; in this spirit, Cathead also donates a portion of proceeds to nonprofits that contribute to the region’s abundant arts and culture.
With several new products on the horizon, the team looks forward to continuing to create and innovate in the craft spirit space.
The distillery is currently closed for tours & tastings but invites both locals and tourists alike to stop by their onsite bottle shop and gift shop.
