The State-imposed Boil-Water alert, issue by the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), for customers who receive their drinking water from the City of Oxford water supply located in Lafayette County, is hereby LIFTED immediately.
Tests performed by the MSDH laboratory indicate that the water is safe to drink and does NOT contain bacteria.
Now the that the precautionary Boil-Water alert is lifted, below are the recommended steps from the Mississippi State Department of Health:
- Flush faucets for total of ten (10) minutes to introduce system water throughout house plumbing (Example: 1 faucet – 10 minutes, 2 faucets – 5 minutes, 3 faucets – 3 minutes, etc.)
- Discard any drinks, ice, food, etc., made during the boil water notice
- Rewash any food or drink contact items (knives, forks, plates, etc.) with “cleared” system water
- Check water filters (in faucents, refrigerators, and elsewhere) and replace if necessary
- Do not use water from your hot water for drinking until several exchanges of the tank have occurred
- Run dishwasher through a cycle before washing dishes
