On May 28, 2024 at approximately 9:45 am, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a carless driver on Highway 7. A Lafayette County Sheriff Deputy observed with the vehicle near Highway 7 and County Road 1032 intersection.
A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, when the Deputy got out of his patrol car, the vehicle sped off heading southbound. The vehicle turned around and headed north on Highway 7. The Deputy pursued after the vehicle.
The vehicle eventually collided with another vehicle near the County Road 244 and Highway 7 intersection. The driver then fled the vehicle on foot. The suspect was subsequently arrested and identified as Larriel Milam (30 years old, black male) of Marshall County.
Both Larriel Milam and the other party were transported to the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the motor vehicle accident.
Larriel Milam was transported from the emergency room to Lafayette County Detention Center and was issued a $5,000 dollar bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge.
Larriel also has a holds placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the Union County Sheriff’s Department, the Oxford Police Department, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, and Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
