The Oxford Lafayette Chamber of Commerce recently announced the appointment of Alyssa Benedict as their new Communications and Events Coordinator. Through this position she will be responsible for public relations, managing the Oxford Lafayette Chamber of Commerce social media accounts, planning and creating the many networking events the Chamber puts on, and building on the annual events that have already been in place.
Benedict, originally from Tupelo, grew up in both the Oxford and Tupelo areas. She is married to Mark Benedict and they have three boys Brady [12], Nolan [10], and Maddux [8]. Benedict says no matter where she lived she and her family knew that Oxford and Ole Miss were always going to be their home base.
Benedict brings over her 12 years of experience in the industry after having worked in Amory, Mississippi, where she was the Executive Director of Amory Main Street, INC. until December of 2020 when she moved to Water Valley and became the Executive Director of Water Valley Main Street Association. Her passion is community development and doing anything that that is going to benefit economic development, tourism, and quality of life in any small community.
Benedict loves working in the community realm, so when the opportunity to support small businesses in Oxford through the Oxford Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Alyssa knew she had to do it. She has greatly enjoyed her experience so far stating, “The Chamber team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive and have made me feel right at home. The Chamber has such an amazing, experienced and talented staff, and it’s an honor to be a small part of it. I am thrilled to be here and excited to work with the Oxford Lafayette community!”
Looking Ahead
Alyssa Benedict will be an instrumental role in the five networking events the Chamber of Commerce puts on every month as well as running the social media accounts connected to the Chamber of Commerce. She has naturally become a key part of the team since her start at the Chamber.

The Chamber of Commerce represents the business community in problem solving promoting economic development, raising the per capita income and providing strong financial resources to create a better life for all citizens. The Chamber is over 800 businesses and professionals working together to make Oxford and Lafayette County a better place to live. It sets and achieves goals that will ensure Oxford and Lafayette County reaches its full potential as a community.
