The Grove is rocking. The media is buzzing. And so are the students. On the cusp of what could be the most monumental win in the Ole Miss Football modern era, we wanted to take it a step further. Let’s talk National Championship.
It’s no secret that the path to the 2014 National Championship will make it’s way through the SEC. With No. 11 Ole Miss taking on No. 1 Alabama this weekend, the road will become more visible as far as which team is “All-In” which team is tapped out.
The Rebels have roared out of the gates with a 4-0 start, the first one since 1970, and are poised to make some noise in the SEC West. With all the talk of SEC and National Championships in the air, we decided to take a look at the odds.
As of today, Ole Miss is listed at 35:1 on winning the trophy according to the odds-makers at online betting site FootballBettingCenter.com. The odds tracker has those Crimson Tide Warriors at 9:2 and our little brothers down the road at 50:1.
To put that in perspective, a $100 wager on the Rebels today would yield $3,300 in January. A long shot? Maybe, but wilder things have happened.
In case you were wondering, the highest odds are for Oregon State, a 200:1 dark horse.
