February 5th, 2015 will see the first ever Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the world and here at the Ole Miss Bookstore we’re getting ready for our own special evening of wizard activities. The fun kicks off at 4 pm and runs until 6 pm.
On Harry Potter Book Night, We’ll be sharing the wonder of J.K. Rowling’s unforgettable stories and, most excitingly, introducing the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter. Here at the Ole Miss Bookstore, young wizards, witches and Muggles will be treated to an evening of games, activities, readings and quizzes. It all begins when the Sorting Hat decides who will be in which House, competing for house points throughout the evening’s challenges. These will include a costume contest, readings from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and the Harry Potter Trivia Challenge. We’ll be dressing up the second floor and serving up snacks inspired by some of the scrumptious wizard foods in the books. Check with the Eeylops Owl Emporium and Post to see if your Hogwarts letter has arrived, create your own wand at the Ollivander’s station and take selfies at our photo booth with scenes from the books!
We will give out prizes, including $25 Barnes and Noble gift cards, copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and more!
Theresa Hannah, Trade Supervisor of the Ole Miss Bookstore says, “We are excited to be part of this worldwide event. Bookshops, libraries, schools and community centers all over the world are joining in on this one night to celebrate reading and the Harry Potter world. ”
RSVPs are appreciated, but not necessary. Everyone is welcome!
