Oxford, MS (TLV) – Carli Sears died from injuries received when struck by a black truck on Stewart Street in Morgantown, West Virginia Sunday morning at approximately 2:30 am.
The truck fled the accident and witnesses were, at the time, unable to identify the license plates.
Police have since located the vehicle as well as arrested the driver, 19 year-old Alexander Hambrick, though the case is still open and being actively investigated.
“This tragic news will impact so many within the Ole Miss family. We are keeping Carli’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers and will do all we can to support them during this time of grief,” said Chancellor Vitter in a released statement.
Sears was a member of AOII at Ole Miss and a junior in the Hospitality Management program.
