The Flicker Box- Think Inside the Box
On the Reel
Deadpool
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller
This film was fantastic! It was witty, irreverent and captivating—everything Deadpool should be! The writing team that gave us Zombieland and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (Rhett Reese and Paul Wernic) captured this comic book anti-hero perfectly. The long anticipated movie redemption of Deadpool lived up to the hype. Take a friend to see it, rent it when it comes out, and buy it for your collection!

Teachers
(TV Land, Wednesdays @ 9:30CST)
This hidden gem follows the lives of six primary school teachers molding young minds. What they will be molded into remains to be seen. This cleverly fresh show was written, produced and stars “The Katydids,” which consists of six women comedians (Second City alumnae) whose names are all forms of Katherine. I was delighted at watching these R-rated Teachers living in a G-Rated World.
Better Call Saul
(AMC, Sundays@ 9CST)
This exhilarating spin off Breaking Bad is back for its second season. We watch James “Slippin Jimmy” McGill try to walk the straight and narrow with his newly acquired law degree. Diligently, he works to better himself and the world, but the world has other plans. Powerful and captivating, this show is more than just a spin-off, it’s the foundation. Bob Odenkirk has proven himself to be a powerful dramatic actor, although long-time fans have always known him as a comic force to be reckoned with.
On the Tablet

This charming sci-fi love story follows lonely comic book shop clerk Joe Norman. Joe searches for the answers to all of life’s big questions. What does the future hold? Can I be loved? Am I an Alien? Joe’s life gets bumpy as answers are revealed. Science fiction and romantic comedy fans will be equally entertained by this Quark film.
Chelsea Does Netflix
This Netflix original documentary follows comedian Chelsea Handler as she tackles tough issues. Topics include marriage, technology, racism, and (her favorite) drugs. We watch a confidant Handler realize she may not know as much as she thinks. As a fan of Chelsea Lately, watching this series was like an old friend came to visit!
