On Saturday, March 12, Proud Larrys’ will be hosting the local punk/metal super group Mean Machine in their debut performance, which just happens to be a “Tribute to Motörhead.”
Featuring members of some legendary Mississippi punk, metal, and rocknroll bands, Mean Machine is vocalist and guitarist Max Hipp (The Apostles, Kill The Ego, E-Meters, Shooting Out The Lights, The Cooters, Kincain), guitarist Patrick McKeage (Stale Fish, The Local Toughs, Dashboard Saints, Black & Whites, The Dutch Masters), bassist Beau Bourgeois (Kill The Ego, E-Meters), and drummer Mikey Namorato (The Cooters, Hawgwash).
The band started off as a weekend jam session last summer, just four friends messing around with their favorite punk and metal covers. When Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister passed away last December, the band realized they already knew a slew of Motörhead cover songs, so they approached Scott Caradine of Proud Larrys’ about throwing a tribute show to the legendary rocker.
“We booked a show and made a list of songs,” explains Beau Boureois. “Most of them Mötorhead, but we’ve also thrown in a few others and a couple originals in the same vein.”
Mean Machine’s “Tribute to Motörhead” is Saturday, March 12, 2016, starting at 10 pm.
