Mike Bianco‘s #8 Ole Miss Rebel baseball team blasted three homers to help defeat UT-Martin 8-2 on Tuesday. The Rebels picked up their 20th win of the season on the annual School Day, where over 6,000 Oxford and Lafayette County school children attend the morning game free of charge.
The victory over the Skyhawks (7-14) improves the Rebels record to 20-2 for the first time in school history, meaning that Ole Miss has never won so many times through its first 22 games.
Three Rebels, Tate Blackman, Colby Bortles, and Cameron Dishon, went yard on Tuesday. The same three Rebs produced three hits apiece to combine for six of the teams seven total hits.
Freshman pitcher James McArthur earned his third straight victory in three starts, allowing only four hits and striking-out a career high seven batters in 5.0 innings of work. The Rebel bullpen saw three freshmen, Connor Green, Dallas Woolfork, and Andrew Lowe keep UT-Martin scoreless during their time on the mound.
The #8 (D1Baseball.com) Ole Miss Rebels host their first SEC series of the season against the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend. Game 1 is Thursday night at 6:30 and will be televised on the SEC Network.
