Sean O’Hara’s project, Nadir Bliss, will be releasing its debut tape-first EP And You Say on April 4. The release coincides with a show at Proud Larry’s organized by O’Hara including Oxford’s own Bonus as well as Jon Hope’s project if i die in Mississippi from Gulfport, MS.
Each band will have cassette tapes available for purchase.
“They’re friends, but it’s also just music that I’m really into,” said O’Hara. “If I didn’t know them and they weren’t from [Mississippi] I’d still really dig them.”
Hope is also the founder of Girlfriend Tapes, a niche cassette tape label offering limited runs of cassettes that each come with an item provided by the artist.
“I had the bright idea one day in [my girlfriend’s] kitchen to start a tape label,” said Hope. “Nobody was doing this in the Hattiesburg Area, and there is so much great music here…let’s help our friends put out physical copies of their music that weren’t getting too much exposure otherwise.”
