As the Rebels strive to win the games needed for bowl eligibility, the game against our cross-divisional rivals Vanderbilt is crucial. This will be the second game without Chad Kelly. But don’t expect the Commodores to show any sympathy.
Vanderbilt is also trying to navigate their team toward a bowl birth. The Commodores’ team is based on a running offense and a good defense. Running back Ralph Webb is one of the most underrated players in the league. It is possible that Webb is the best running back in the SEC.
Linebacker Zac Cunningham is a tackling machine. He’s the leader of this aggressive defense. The Rebels’ offense will have a difficult task going against them without Kelly at QB. The key for the Rebels is to score early. They need to build a lead that will force the Commodores to abandon the run.
The weakness of that team is their passing game. Kyle Shurmur doesn’t create a true passing threat. Putting them in passing situation allows for the Rebels pass rush to reek havoc on Shurmur.
This game will probably be closer than Ole Miss fans would like. I still think we have enough talent to get a win. Ole Miss 24 Vanderbilt 20
