Yalobusha Brewery in Water Valley quickly became a staple of the region, releasing countless craft beers over the years. Nearing its 4th anniversary, the brewery is embarking on a new chapter. With the passing of HB-1322 that allows small craft breweries that produce light wine or beer to sell their product on premise, Yalobusha Brewery Company will convert from a distributing brewery to a brewpub.
Yalobusha Brewery will be the first brewery in Mississippi to transition from a brewery to a brewpub. A brewub is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. You will be able to pop down to Yalobusha brewpub and grab a fresh pint or growler of your favorite beer. The catch is that with this transition in business model, the craft brewery will no longer distribute their product to store shelves. The Water Valley location will be the exclusive location to drink Yalobusha Brewery craft beer, drawing even more visitors to the growing downtown area.
The current projection is to have three brewpubs open within three years. Owner Andy O’Brian stated that plans were well underway for the second and third locations to be built in Oxford and Tupelo. As of writing, no specific details were available as to what districts the brewpubs would be built in or a time frame for the projects. The Water Valley brewery will be making further announcements through its social media accounts. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
