This weekend is a busy one for local entertainment lovers. North Mississippi and the surrounding areas will be hosting a plethora of music festivals October 6–8.
The First Annual MEMPHO Music Festival at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee
Filled with music and food, this will be a fun weekend activity for families all around. Cage The Elephant will be headlining the festival, and will be accompanied with artists such as Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, and many more. Guests can enter the festival at 4 pm on Friday, October 6 and noon on Saturday, October 7. There are several ticket options, including a two-day general admission pass for $99, a single-day general admission pass for $50, a two-day VIP admission pass for $250, a single-day VIP admission pass for $175, a two-day super VIP admission pass for $600, and a single-day super VIP admission pass for $300. The Grenada Afterglow Film Festival in Grenada, Mississippi
Afterglow gives locals a chance to relax and enjoy a variety of musical guests and films as well as eat some great food and laugh at comedic performances. The festival will take place in downtown Grenada at the GLAD Auditorium, Rave House Coffee, Suki’s, and the Keeton Arts Center. There will be a cosplay contest for the crafty attendees, and cash prizes are available afterward. Rules for the cosplay contest can be found here. Otherfest in Cleveland, Mississippi
Otherfest is a festival dedicated to independent music-makers from the Mississippi Delta. Attendees will be able to enjoy live music, food, and drinks. This is the festival’s 12th year putting on a show, and musical artists such as El Obo, And The Echo, Adam Faucett & The Tall Grass, and more will be headlining this year. Attendees will be able to enter the gates at 5 pm on Friday and noon on Saturday. Tickets are $25 for the two-day event and can be purchased at the gate.
King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas
Helena, Arkansas, is hosting the King Biscuit Blues Festival October 4-7. Showcasing blues music, arts, history, and food, this weekend activity is well worth the drive. Artists headlining this festival include Mississippi BigFoot, Six Strings Andrew, Deak Harp, and more. Tickets to the festival are $90 for a three-day pass and $45 for a single-day pass and can be purchased at the ticket counter at the venue.
