This article is the third in a series of posts about musicians from Oxford, Mississippi who are continuing to play live and during the 2020 CoronaVirus Shutdown. All performances were recorded within the last 48 hours, and all have no studio audience. Watch the other performances here: Check It Out #1, Check It Out #2, Check It Out #3, and Check It Out #4.
Bill Perry Jr. and Scooby DaKid
Here is Bill Perry Jr. and Scooby DaKid social distancing themselves but also “bridging the gap” through live music. This track features Bill on jazz piano plus beat boxing, while Scooby raps.
Tate Patrick Moore
Tate Patrick Moore usually plays Happy Hour at Moe’s Penny Bar every Thursday from 5-7, but he is now broadcasting live on the internet. Tate has two studio set ups, one at his house and his now rearranged former dining room at his restaurant Square Pizza, which is shut down for business.
In this video he readily admits that his business model doesn’t allow for carry-out, but he plans to change that in the upcoming days. Meanwhile, here’s a great rendition of “She Got Low Down” by Huey “Piano” Smith, live from Square Pizza in Oxford, Mississippi.
Here is Tate‘s full two-happy Virtual Happy Hour show from Thursday, March 19, 2020. Put this one on while cleaning the house!
Andrew Gordon
Andrew Gordon is a local musician I hadn’t heard until now. He plays a really beautiful harp, the instrument of angels. Here is his first “quarantune.”
Damien Wash
Damien Wash is posting classical piano pieces every day on his Facebook page. Here he is playing Schumann’s “Gondelfahrt.”
And here is Damein again with a little piece of Chopin, “Raindrops”!
Silas Reed IV and Laura Reed
Silas Reed continues his onslaught of beautiful music, this time a cover of “Just The Two Of Us” with special guest Laura Reed.
Here’s Silas Reed and Laura Reed with “Stand By Me.”
Daniel Roebuck
Daniel Roebuck gave a full one hour long concert Wednesday, March 18, 2020 on his piano at home. Turn this one on and enjoy!
