The Oxford Police Department along with Mayor Robyn Tannehill and the Board of Aldermen would like to announce that Jeff McCutchen has been appointed as interim Chief of Police. This appointment will begin February 1, 2019 as Chief Joey East takes a leave of absence to campaign for the position of Sheriff of Lafayette County.
Chief East stated that he has “no doubt that Jeff will do an outstanding job while I am away, along with the support of our upper administration and the entire police department.”
Jeff McCutchen has served the police department as Operations Major since 2014 overseeing Patrol, Investigations and Special Event Details. Prior to that he has held various positions including Supervisor over Investigations, Patrol Officer, DUI Officer and SWAT Commander for a combined 17 years of service in law enforcement.
He is a graduate of the 257th class of the FBI National Academy and a 2018 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lafayette Program, receiving the peer nominated Leadership Award. Jeff is married with two children.
