On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, an alert citizen at Taylor Cottages noticed a suspicious male around 6:20 am, breaking into a truck. Officers quickly arrived on scene and found Joey Williams (26 of Abbeville, Mississippi) inside of the truck. Williams was detained without incident.
The investigation lead to the discovery of at least five vehicles that had been burglarized in the complex. Officers located all the stolen property and returned it to its owners.
Williams was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center for five counts of auto burglary where he was given a $100,000 bond by a Justice Court Judge. A hold was placed on Williams with the District Attorney’s Officer for previous felony charges.
