The highly anticipated lighting of the Square will take place at 6 pm Sunday, November 19 accompanied by FOX Business Network’s Small Town Christmas crew who will capture the moment for an episode to air December 16 at 2 pm.
Of course, an abundance of family friendly activities will be going on around town in partnership with Visit Oxford.
New this year to Holly Jolly Holidays, the Peppermint Trail will lead guests to special holiday treats and promotions. Guests are encouraged to follow the trail of peppermints on the sidewalks all around Oxford to explore a variety of peppermint treats. From coffee to cocktails, sweets, and more—the peppermint craze along the red-and-white candied trail continues from November 18 through January 7. This annual event at the Ford Center offers a magical atmosphere with Gingerbread houses designed by community members and civic groups, a miniature village with a working train, a holiday-themed Lego house, a mailbox for Santa, a decorated tree surrounded by gifts by a fireplace hung with stockings, and a multi-cultural display of holiday traditions from around the world, all enveloped by cheerful and inspirational music. Hundreds of children visit the Ford Center to wander through the Village, listen to stories read by Mrs. Claus. This event is free and open to the public in December and raises funds and collects goods for the Pantry.
Peppermint Bear & the Toy Elves
From November 30 through December 2, Theatre Oxford presents Peppermint Bear & the Toy Elves, a family-friendly musical featuring Santa, Elves, and Peppermint Bear. This fun holiday musical features local actors and an elf chorus of local children, directed by René Pulliam.
Christmas Parade
On Monday, December 4 at 6:30 pm, gather for the Oxford Christmas Parade and see the festive Whoville-related floats.
