Donald Cook struggled courageously against several physical ailments for much of his adult life. These struggles ended the morning of Friday, June 25. Donald died at age 34.
By early evening his friend Jo-Shannon Bullock Hartnett had posted notice of his passing on Facebook. As of this writing, there have been almost 100 replies expressing condolence, and over 300 shares.
Jo-Shannon made arrangements for a Celebration of Life event that began at 10 am the next day on the north side of the Courthouse lawn. By coincidence, earlier in the week Donald’s father, Dick Cook; his stepmom, Mary Cook; and his sister, Katie LaGrange had traveled to Oxford from their home in Indiana to attend to other family matters. Dick and Mary both offered scripturally based words of hope and consolation, as did Pastors Kirk Kay and Jonathan Palmer from Pinelake Church, where Donald was a devout member.
