The Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies at the University of Mississippi and Oxford’s Powerhouse Community Arts Center with support from the Department of Theater Arts and Cinema are proud to present a screening of actor-writer-director and former Oxonian Joey Lauren Adams’s film Come Early Morning (2006). Adams will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A session with the audience. This program is part of the Sarah Isom Centers series Women in the Film Industry.
The screening is free and open to the public. Tickets for the post-show reception with Adams are ten dollars. Ticket price includes food by the Main Event and a beverage. Tickets for the reception will be available at the door.
About Adams:
Joey Lauren Adams has appeared in over 30 films such as Dazed and Confused, Big Daddy, and The Break Up. Her lead performance in the Film Chasing Amy was celebrated with A Golden Globe nomination and a Chicago Film Critics Award for Most Promising Actress.
Come Early Morning, starring Ashley Judd, was selected to play in competition at the Sundance Film Festival where Adams was awarded the Dorothy Arzner Women In Film Directors Award.
Most recently, she formed Argenta Productions with partner Kerri Elder. Their first film, All the Birds Have Flown South, was completed in February.
