On October 25, 2020, an Oxford Police officer responded to a call from an Uber driver on East Jackson Avenue. Upon arrival the Uber driver reported that he was assaulted by someone who requested an Uber ride. The person who requested the ride assaulted him, damaged his phone while trying to call the police, and damaged his vehicle.
During the investigation, an investigator found out the ride was ordered by Samuel Robert Hudson (23 of Kosciuscko, Mississippi). A warrant was issued for Hudson for Felony Malicious Mischief. On January 12, 2021, Hudson turned himself in at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
A Lafayette County Justice Court judge issued Hudson a 2,500 bond.
