On December 20, 2019, the Oxford Police Department took a report from NAPA Auto Parts about a subject who had paid $2,571.70 for lawn equipment with a credit card. The credit card was reported stolen after the transaction took place.
The suspect had left his identification behind so he was quickly identified as Ormon Jones (28 of Memphis, Tennessee). A warrant for false pretense was issued for Jones.
On February 29, 2020, the Memphis Police Department arrested Jones on an unrelated charge and notified OPD they could come get Jones. On March 3, 2020, Jones was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and charged with one count of False Pretenses.
A Justice Court Judge set Jones bond at $5,000
