On Thursday, November 23, 2023, the Lafayette County Sheriff Department received a 911 call about a unresponsive female involved in an domestic assault in the area of County Road 181.
Upon arriving Lafayette County Deputies found 24 year old Kylan Phillips of Oxford, Mississippi inside the residence refusing to come outside. The Deputies talked Mr. Phillips out of the house.
After securing the scene, Deputies and Paramedics checked on the victim and found she had succumbed to the injuries from the assault. The victim was later identified of Baily Reed (21 year old, B/F).
Mr. Phillips was later arrested and booked in at the Lafayette County Sheriff Department and placed on a hold for the Lafayette County Sheriff Department Criminal Investigative Division.
On November 27, 2023, Mr. Kylan Phillips was formally charged with Murder. Lafayette County Justice Court issued Mr. Phillips a $2,000,000 bond.
Mr. Phillips is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center and also has a hold placed on him by Mississippi Department of Corrections.
