On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at approximately 11:45 am, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a suspicious person on County Road 119. Deputies arrived in the area, knew the caller stated he was beside railroad tracks, and knew County Road 104 was probably where the suspicious person was. While patrolling the area Deputies found the subject described by the caller.
When the Deputy tried to stop the suspicious person later identified as 21 year old Antavious Dukes of Oxford, Mississippi he had dropped two firearms in a ditch. Deputies found the firearms, discovered one of the firearms was stolen, and the other had the serial number scratched off. Mr. Dukes was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.
Investigations interviewed Mr. Dukes where he admitted to throwing the firearms in the ditch and to stealing both of them. Mr. Dukes was charged with Possession, Sale, Transfer of a Stolen Firearm X 2, and was issued a bond of $20,000.00 by a Justice Court Judge.
Mr. Dukes bond was revoked because of previous felony charges.
