On Saturday, June 22, 2019, officers with the Oxford Police Department responded to a convenience store on Hwy 6 for an armed robbery. Investigators learned during the course of the investigation that Jameron Conway (27 of Oxford, Mississippi) was the person who committed the robbery. A warrant was issued for Conway’s arrest shortly afterwards. Conway was contacted by phone and he turned himself in within two hours of the robbery being reported. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $75,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
During the course of a week in April 2019, the Oxford Police Department took 11 automobile burglary reports. Investigators eventually learned that Tyler Owens (18 of Oxford, Mississippi) was responsible for all the burglaries. An arrest warrant for the auto burglaries was issued for his arrest. Owens was eventually arrested by the Louisville, Kentucky Metro Police Department on the warrant. He was subsequently transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $50,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
On Friday, June 21, 2019, an officer with the Oxford Police Department conducted a traffic stop for driving the wrong way on a one way street. The officer came in contact with Richard Ward (36 of Oxford, Mississippi) and suspected him of being under the influence. During the course of the DUI investigation the officer learned that Ward had at least two prior DUI convictions within the last five years. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked for DUI 3rd, wrong way on a one way street, open container, driving while license suspended, and no insurance. Ward was given a bond of $15,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
On Monday, June 24, 2019, the Oxford Police Department received complaints that two males were attempting to solicit prostitution at a local hotel. Investigators were able to get probable cause that Cornillius Thomas (31 of Oxford, Mississippi) and Henry Fox (56 of Oxford, Mississippi) were soliciting individuals for prostitution with a another individual. Thomas and Fox were both arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. They were both charged with promoting prostitution and given a bond of $15,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
On Friday, June 14, 2019, the Oxford Police Department took a report on an employee that was taking money from a local business. During the investigation officers learned that Marshall Gardner took approximately $1,008.35 of the course of a time period. A manager signed charges for embezzlement on Gardner. On Thursday, June 20, 2019, officers arrested Gardner on the aforementioned warrant. He was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $2,500 by a Justice Court Judge.
