On 7/18/17 officers from the Oxford Police Department took a report that a boat motor was stolen from a residence on South 18th Street. The victim stated that the motor was stolen on 7/18/17 between 7:30 am and 2:00 pm. Investigations began searching regional pawn records and located a similar motor that was pawned, by John W. Perry (51) of Pope, Mississippi, in Southaven, Mississippi. The pawn shop was contacted and they were able to provide pictures of the motor. Investigators were able to positively identify the motor, as the victims, by several distinguishing characteristics.
An arrest warrant was issued for Perry’s arrest on 7/19/17. Perry turned himself in to Investigators on 8/11/17 and was booked at the Lafayette Co. Detention Center. Perry’s bond was set at $2,500.00
