On August 31, 2024, the Oxford Police Department was conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on College Hill Road when a vehicle pulled up to an officer. Due to a strong odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle, the officer gained probable cause to search the vehicle. While doing so, the officer observed narcotics in the front passenger floorboard where the passenger, Javion Foote, 20, of Tupelo, Mississippi, was sitting.
Two firearms were located under the front passenger seat as well. One of the firearms came back stolen out of Pontotoc, MS.
Foote was then arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Foote was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.
