UNIVERSITY, MISS. (TLV) – Just a few days after three Ole Miss Men’s Tennis members were named All-SEC, the squad learned it would be a host site for the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss, currently ranked No. 13 in the country, finished the season with an overall record of 17–8 and will play Alabama State in the first round in Oxford at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Georgia Tech and Columbia will kick things off on Friday at noon.
“We are very excited to host,” head coach Toby Hansson said. “The guys have worked extremely hard to get this opportunity, and they deserve it. We have had a lot of success at home, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our great fans.”
Senior Nik Scholtz, junior Stefan Lindmark, and freshman Gustav Hansson were rewarded for their 
efforts being named to the All-SEC Team. Scholtz and Lindmark made the first team while Hansson made second team honors and the All-Freshman Team.
“We are very proud of all three of these guys,” Hansson said “. This league is extremely tough ,so to make the All-SEC Team means you have had a great year. They have helped us rank among the top teams in the nation and finish in the top third of the SEC. Nik, Stefan, and Gustav are all very deserving of this honor.”
Nik Scholtz made history, becoming the only Ole Miss Men’s Tennis player to be named All-SEC First Team all four years. “Nik has been one of not only the best players in the nation, but in this league since he arrived four years ago,” Coach Hansson said. “To be the first player in our program to be named to the first team all four years is a great accomplishment. I know there is more he wants to accomplish both with the team and individually, and we are looking forward to seeing that over the next month.”
Alabama State won the Southwestern Athletic Conference to earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championships Columbia posted a 14–5 overall record and won the Ivy League to earn the automatic bid. The Lions carry a seven-match win streak into their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance. Georgia Tech (14–12) earned an at-large bid from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“When you get to this point in the season, you have to be prepared for a battle no matter who you play,” Scholtz added. “If you don’t give it 110 percent, you’re going to come up short. We know that, and for the younger guys, I’ll make sure they know that.”
Tickets for the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds are $7 per day or $10 for the entire session, and $3 for students college-aged and younger.
