Founded in 2009 by Chef John Currence, and today led by 2019 James Beard ‘Best Chef: South’ Vishwesh Bhatt, Snackbar has become Oxford’s neighborhood restaurant and living room. The Southern Brasserie prides itself on using local Mississippi ingredients whenever possible, serving the freshest raw oysters from around the country, artfully crafted cocktails, and fine internationally-inspired food.
To celebrate the anniversary, Snackbar will be hosting a shrimp boil on Sunday, April 14 from 5–8 pm. At the event, guests will enjoy food, booze, and live music by Rocket 88 & Friends, including Michael Farris Smith, Eric Carlton, and Bradley Gordon.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to LovePacks of Oxford, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding hungry children in the Oxford/Lafayette community. Snackbar alumni Derek Baker and Ivy McClellan will be creating cocktails using Cathead and Wonderbird products, and there will be beer from Red Panther Brewing Co. (Clarksdale) and Cathead Seltzers. Additional sponsors are Ben E. Keith, providing food, and Magnolia Rental, who are providing oudoor tables and tents.
Tickets are $50 and include entry, food, drinks, and entertainment, available online here.
