This spring, The Department of Music welcomes many acclaimed guest artists to Nutt Auditorium.
The McCallister/Ames Duo will be on campus March 3–4, 2024. They will perform in Nutt Auditorium on Monday, March 4 at 7:30 pm following a series of lectures and masterclasses.
Liz Ames will host a lecture and masterclass on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 1 pm. Dr. Ames is a Lecturer of Collaborative Piano at the University of Michigan and a performing collaborative pianist. She is passionate about performing and working with instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, and her duo partner Timothy McAllister.
Timothy McAllister, a two-time Grammy-winning saxophonist, will host a masterclass on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 3 pm in Nutt Auditorium. A dedicated teacher, McAllister is a Professor of Saxophone at The University of Michigan School of Music. He is the soprano chair of the renowned PRISM Quartet and one of the world’s most celebrated classical saxophonists.
Ryan Fogg will make his Carnegie Hall debut in April 2024 at Weill Recital Hall after a solo recital tour that includes a stop in Oxford, Mississippi. Dr. Fogg is an avid chamber musician, collaborative pianist, and concerto soloist who holds degrees in piano performance from The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Houston, and East Texas Baptist University. He is currently the Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies at Carson-Newman University, where he has been recognized by Carson-Newman with the Teaching Excellence and Leadership Award and twice with the Faculty Creativity Award.
The McAllister and Ames duo will conclude their University of Mississippi visit with a Project Encore Recital in Nutt Auditorium on Monday, March 3, 2024, at 7:30 pm. Dr. Fogg’s guest recital will take place in Nutt Auditorium on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 7:30 pm and will feature the piano music of the composers Debussy and Reval. Both performances are free and open to the public.
