J.R.R. Tolkien‘s classic Lord of the Rings story will be making its way to Avent Park November 6. In order to promote literacy in an engaging and fun way for people of all ages, Meghan Gallagher has put together the Hobbit Walk.
Last year, Gallagher piloted the Wizarding Walk, an event to promote literacy that was focused around J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter series. Gallagher wanted to have another event centered around books that also had movies.
“People would be more likely to recognize them, and maybe be a little more encouraged to explore those books,” she said.
Games and treats will be made available to attendees and the event is open to people of all ages. Live music based off Tolkien’s story and characters will also be present. The Hobbit Walk will have themed activities that will drive kids and parents to understand the value literature brings, as well as explore subjects both related and unrelated to the magical world of Middle-earth.
The Hobbit Walk will take place November 6 from 2-5 pm. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to November 13.
