From January 3, 2024 to July 1, 2024 the Lafayette County Sheriff Office has taken several reports of stolen AT&T utility wire throughout Lafayette County.
Through an investigation several persons of interest were developed from people scrapping copper wire in North Mississippi.
On July 3, 2024, 47 year old Kevin Smith of Sardis, Mississippi and 37 year old Lisa Nissen of Batesville were arrested on a traffic stop on South Lamar Boulevard. 39 year old Timothy Nissen of Batesville, Lisa Nissen, and Kevin Smith were subsequently charged for Grand Larceny from the investigation.
Kevin and Timothy were issued a $25,000 dollar bond and Lisa was issued a $15,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court.
