On September 24, 2024, the Oxford Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft on the 2000 block of Heritage Drive. Investigations revealed that the suspect was linked to another vehicle theft, facilitated by an accomplice. The suspects, Caleb Carrothers, 22, and Demarcus Govan, 20, both residents of Oxford, Mississippi, were found to be involved not only in the theft of a vehicle but also in the removal of personal items from multiple vehicles.
On September 29, 2024, officers responded to two additional calls regarding vehicle thefts, one on the 1400 block of Haden Lane and the other on the 100 block of Haden Lane. The same suspects were identified in these incidents. The investigation uncovered further evidence of additional vehicle thefts and the theft of personal valuables.
As a result of these investigations, Caleb Carrothers and Demarcus Govan have both been charged with Commercial Burglary, two counts of Motor Vehicle Theft, and three counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.
The bond for Carrothers and Govan has been set by a Municipal Court judge.
