Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze spoke with the media today during a 35 minute press conference at the Manning Center about the team’s preparations for Boise State on Thursday in Atlanta. The Rebels will kickoff the 2014 season at the Georgia Dome on Thursday at 7:00 pm. The game will be carried by ESPN.
“We are anxious to get going,” Freeze said. “We have studied a lot of different film for Boise, but they have been the most difficult team to prepare for that I can remember.”
Boise State is under the first year leadership of Bryan Harsin, who took over for the Broncos after one year at Arkansas State.
The Rebels have yet to hear word on a NCAA eligibility ruling for De’mor’ea Stringfellow and Christian Morris. Freeze said it would be difficult for them to be prepped to play Thursday at this point regardless of what the NCAA says. Stringfellow, a highly recruited wide receiver transferred to Ole Miss from Washington.
For once, Ole Miss can rely on depth chart. Freeze named five wide receivers that will play against the Broncos in Treadwell, Core, Adeboyejo and Pack.
Senior quarterback Bo Wallace praised his offensive line and said he feels confident in their progress so far this season.
“They are going up against the best defensive line in the SEC everyday in practice,” Wallace said. “I feel a lot better about the unit as a whole than I thought I would.”
As the signal caller prepares to enter his third year as a starter for Ole Miss, questions about the reality of breaking numerous of Eli Manning’s records have surfaced. Wallace instead shifted the focus to a different record.
“I want to be the first Ole Miss quarterback to win an SEC Championship game,” he said.
