Meagan Tubb independently released her first EP entitled Color Outside the Lines in 2005 in San Diego. Shortly afterwards she moved to Austin in May of 2005 where she formed her band Meagan Tubb & Shady People.
In the five years the band has been together, they have managed to win a battle of the bands competition, record and release two records (Beautiful Noise, 2008, Cast Your Shadow, 2011), land two guitar sponsorships, win an Independent Music Award for “Best Song in the Blues Category” for their song, “Let Me Believe,” open for such artists as Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy Joe Shaver, Bob Schneider, Carolyn Wonderland, and Willie Nelson…(twice), and Meagan literally had a day proclaimed as “Meagan Tubb Day” in Austin on March 10th, 2011 by Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell.
Meagan and the boys just released their latest album Cast Your Shadow in Feb. 2011, which was produced by Stephen Doster. The album features songs written from unusual perspectives and incorporates a fresh Classic Rock/R&B feel with three-part harmonies, dual lead guitar, and features Meagan playing slide guitar on a recording for the first time. It has been in regular rotation in Austin, Kansas City, Arizona, Colorado, and internet radio stations across the globe. At times sweet and sultry, other times unwaveringly powerful, Meagan & The Shady People combine their own séance of rock, blues, southern rock, Americana, and Funk for a sound they call “Rock and Roll with Soul.” Add to that mixture Meagan’s bluesy vocals, dual lead guitars, slide guitars, three-part harmonies, and a drum and bass dynamic duo rumored to be one of the most sought-after in Austin, Meagan Tubb & Shady People will knock the wind out of you just as you realized you were still breathing.
Meagan Tubb is joined by her guitar /slide guitar player Jason Nunnenkamp, Wilson Carr on bass, and John Duran on drums.
