It’s that time of year again. Spring is in the air and Oxford’s highly anticipated Double Decker Arts Festival is just around the corner. On the weekend of April 24th – 25th the famous Oxford Square will be filled with something to tickle the fancies of everyone from music and art lovers, to those just out to see the sights and have a good time. But Double Decker weekend is also a prime time for food lovers wanting to try items from some of the best local eateries.
With over 15 food vendors available and a wide array of menu items, there is something for everyone. Local Foods Organic Cafe and Market will be serving brisket tacos made with local brisket, as well as potato and black bean tacos. For those with a hankering for something smoked or barbecued, Rebel Barn BBQ will be offering their house-rolled Delta-style hot tamales, and their world famous barbecue nachos with white corn tortillas, pulled pork, shredded cheese, and jalapenos, topped with their house-made queso and barbecue sauce. Sweet tea and water will also be available.
Vendors like Taylor Grocery and LB’s Meat Market will offer down-home, Southern-style meals.
For those with a big sweet tooth, a variety of desserts will be available from Southern Sweets & More, as well as Honey Bee Bakery which will offer strawberry lemonade, Double Decker iced sugar cookies and even more savory dishes like tacos. Oxford’s warm weather hotspot, Snobiz will offer snow cones to those looking to cool down over the weekend.
Festival goers will also be able to try items from popular Square hangouts like Old Venice Pizza Co. and Proud Larry’s, which will be serving roast beef, jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and gumbo.
Menu items from vendors including but not limited to McAlister’s, Abner’s Famous Chicken Tenders, Funky’s Pizza, Taqueria El Milagro, will be available.
