Oxford, Miss. (TLV) – Ole Miss students will want to be aware of some of the changes to the University’s attendance policy this semester.
Instructors will still be required to track student attendance, using either ID scanners, or the myOleMiss online interface – however, there are new features in the system designed to identify no-shows early in the semester, as well as finding students whose financial aid must be modified because they either dropped courses or never attended.
There are some practical benefits for students and instructors, as well as the increased bureaucratic scrutiny – the changes will help free up seats more quickly for those looking to add a specific course to their schedule, and the attendance system should help the University maximize its student retention rate.
