Tickets are now available for Miss-I-Sippin’, an official craft beer festival of the Mississippi Brewer’s Guild benefitting the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council on April 12. Now in its eighth year the event continues to grow, adding fresh twists on the culinary trends of Mississippi.
The two-day event will begin Friday, April 1 at the Powerhouse with a Brewer’s Dinner featuring local chef Meredith Pittman of Second Line. Pittman will prepare dishes for guests and brewer’s inspired by her favorite Mississippi and Southern flavors.. Ticket-holders can select a seat with the men and women behind the brewing of some of Mississippi’s most loved beers, such as Lazy Magnolia and Southern Prohibition, among others. Each Brewer will bring a limited edition beer just for the guests who attend the Brewers Dinner. Seating is limited to 100, with attendees selecting which brewery they would like to sit with for the evening. Pittman will prepare dinner for guests and brewers inspired by Mississippi flavor and foods from across the State. Musician Jimmy Phillips will provide entertainment for the Brewer’s Dinner. Tickets for Friday, April 1 are limited.
Saturday, April 2 from noon to 6 pm is the Miss-I-Sippin’ festival at the Old Armory Pavilion on University Avenue. The festival will again feature all the beers with the Mississippi Brewer’s Guild, as well as craft beers from the surrounding states along with local food, art, and music. This year features a change in the culinary element for Saturday allowed the YAC to offer a lower admission fee to the festival. “Oxford creating new food truck policies inspired us to offer this community event as a chance to host these small culinary businesses,” shared Wayne Andrews, Director of the Arts Council. “This year Miss-I-Sippin’ attendees will have the chance to dine at the Food Truck Court purchasing from a variety of vendors in food trucks and pop up restaurants. Oxford is a foodie town and an event that is about craft beverages should also feature craft foods”
“All proceeds from Miss-I-Sippin’ will benefit the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Mississippi Brewer’s Guild,” says Anna Leigh Phillips, a coordinator for the event . “Miss-I-Sippin’ is a nonprofit event designed to invite the community to explore how Mississippians use traditions to inspire our innovations. We’re looking forward to greeting beer lovers or just good-time lovers from across the state.” Tickets prices for Yoknapatawpha Arts Council members are for the two day Dinner & Festival Pass $75 and $25 for the Saturday festival only pass while non-members are $85 and $35 Tickets are available on oxfordarts.com.
