Ole Miss baseball suffered a tough Easter weekend in being swept by the #10 South Carolina Gamecocks at home. The SEC schedule doesn’t get any easier on the Rebs this week, as they must travel to Dudy Noble Field in Starkville to take on a Mississippi State team that is fresh off of series wins over Vanderbilt and Georgia in back-to-back weekends. On the mound, #16 Mississippi State (17-7-1, 4-2 SEC) is led by junior right-hander Dakota Hudson, who boasts a 3-1 record to match his 1.13 ERA and has not earned a run in over 21 consecutive innings. At the plate, the Bulldogs are hitting .311 as a team. They are led by Jack Kruger, Reid Humphries, and Brent Rooker, who have combined for 8 HR and 65 RBI to anchor the MSU lineup. The series will be broadcast live on SECN+.
Ole Miss softball is also staring down a road series with Mississippi State after being swept last weekend. Though the bats were alive, the Rebels lost both games of a doubleheader at Oklahoma State, 8-6 and 9-6. Pitcher Madi Osias suffered her third loss on the season, earning five runs in 2.1 innings of work. Mississippi State softball started out last weekend at #25 nationally, but also found themselves on the wrong end of a sweep in Knoxville and will likely find themselves unranked when the Rebels arrive. The second game of the Sat/Sun/Mon series will be broadcast on ESPNU, while Monday’s game will be on SECN (all 6 PM starts).
