It’s that time of year again! School has opened, SEC football is in full swing, and it’s time for the Water Valley Arts Council’s (WVAC) famous—and award winning—8th Annual Art Crawl. If you are wondering what the Water Valley arts community is all about, now is the time to see the visual and performing art that everyone is talking about across northern Mississippi. The 8th Annual Art Crawl is Saturday, October 8, from 5:30 to 9 pm. After viewing all the art and performances in The Valley, we invite you to return to Bozarts Gallery for some light refreshments and dancing under Bozart’s famed disco ball.
This event is free and family-friendly; please bring your children. There are 13 stops on the tour this year; some are new to The Valley Art Crawl, and all of them are comfortably within walking distance of each other. Half the stops are right on Main Street.
If art isn’t your thing, consider this an opportunity to tour many of the beautiful historic homes in The Valley and shop at some unique businesses while indulging in delicious finger food, and sipping a glass of wine or lemonade while music fills The Valley from the various crawl locations. It’s a grand event and lovely evening to welcome fall to The Valley while allowing the Arts to enrich our lives.
We have added something new for this year’s Art Crawl: you have the opportunity to begin collecting WVAC Lapel Pins. For the first time, we are offering the WVAC Logo. And, to further pique your interest, we have our exclusive WVAC Art Pin: “Peace in The Valley.” Pins are $1 each. Supplies are limited.
Artists showing in this year’s crawl include Katrina Geenen, Adrienne Brown-David, Susan Richards, Mari Foster, Tiffeny Owens, Pati D’Amico, Bill Warren, Coulter Fussell, Michael Maxwell, Catherine and Jon McLeod, Deirdre Uncapher, Staci Waites, Thomas Grosskopf, Hanne Gaycken, Jack Gurner, Carol Smith, and performances by Valley Dance Company’s Elite Team.
Musicians performing during the Art Crawl include Kevin Guyer, Tyler Keith, Laurie Stirratt, Gina Sexton, Wendy Garrison, and Matthew and Charlie Zediker.
This year’s Arts Crawl is sponsored by Paul Koshenina and Patrick Sneed of Precision Engineering Corporation and Cinnamon Foster FNP-BC CinnaMed and Yalobusha Medical Clinic, with additional support from Dr. Barry Weeks, Mechanics Bank, Turnage Drug Store, Radiosonde Museum of North America, Larson’s Piggly Wiggly, Lee McMinn/Kessinger Real Estate, B.T.C.
