Area wine aficionados and casual sippers have the opportunity to support the local art scene through their tastebuds. The ninth annual 3 Blind Wines, hosted by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Rotary Club of Oxford, invites you to put your cask on the line.
3 Blind Wines invites participants to put their favorite wines to the taste test. Teams provide three bottles of the same wine, two of which will be used for blind taste-testing, and one that will be put into the grand prize vault. Teams of two will spend the evening eating hors d’oeuvres and sampling all of the bottles. The team that brings the most popular wine for the taste test wins the grand prize; the wine vault. 2015’s wine vault was five cases with an estimated value of $1,000.
“Double Decker Red Blend got top honors last year, so it’s definitely possible to win the whole thing with a good, but modestly priced wine,” shared Wayne Andrews, Director of the Arts Council. In previous contests, only red wines were accepted, but this year, anything goes.
“We’re really excited to see how greater diversity in selection will affect the contest now that you can bring reds, whites, or roses. The more wine, the merrier!”
Corks will be popped on Tuesday, October 18th as 3 Blind Wines, the wine tasting with a twist, returns to the powerhouse. Tickets start at $35 per team of two, with each team expected to bring three bottles. Also offered is a $100 dollar all-inclusive ticket option that includes three wines selected by a professional sommelier.
