Dr. Lelon Olester Davidson, Ph.D, husband of Mrs. Mary Bryson Davidson, and son of Mrs. Hattie L. Davidson and the late Mr. Lenon Davidson, was born September 6, 1940 in Oxford, Mississippi.
Dr. Davidson was a 1959 graduate of Oxford Training School and received a B.S. in Language Arts from Jackson State College (Now Jackson State University) in 1963, M.S. in Library and Informational Science from Atlanta University in 1967 and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi in 1991.
Dr. Davidson was Librarian at Central High School and Assistant Principal of Oxford High School before moving on to become principal and later school superintendent in the Marshall County School district from which he retired. He then re-entered the work force and became a tenured professor with University of North Alabama from whence he took his second retirement.
Dr. Davidson was a member of Beverly United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Lay Leader, and was very active on the local, district and state levels of the United Methodist Conference. He served on Youth Programs, Summer Programs, PREP, and was Vice President of Culture and Diversity.
Dr. Davidson graduated one more time on November 6, 2017 when he graduated from the University of Mortal and entered the University of Immortal, where he received the highest degree obtainable. The degree of Everlasting Life. He is now enjoying Full Retirement and is resting from his labor.
Dr. Davidson is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Davidson of Oxford MS; his daughters and sons-in-law, Camille Michel Davidson (Trevor Fuller) of Charlotte NC and Karen Voncille Smith (Julian Smith) of Oxford MS; his grandchildren, Jackson and Schuyler Fuller of Charlotte NC; his mother: Mrs. Hattie L, Davidson, Oxford MS; two brothers: Roy Lee Davidson of Jackson MS and Isaiah Davidson of Covington TN; two sisters: Eunice Carter of Oxford MS and Edith R. Davidson Keys (Kenneth Keys) of Bolton MS; He was preceded in death by his father Lenon Davidson; brother, Don Davidson and sister, Odessa Davidson Cohran.
