Pati D’Amico and Bill Warren are launching their new Gallery in the Green Room with an inaugural exhibit of collages by local artist Katrina Geenen. The opening night festivities will begin on Friday, February 16 at 6 pm, and continue until 9 pm. The gallery is located at 200 Panola Street in Water Valley in the home of artists D’Amico and Warren.
Geenen says that she has always been attracted by bright, shiny objects and this is reflected in her collages. She invites the viewer to get giddy with glitter galore, and experience a spectacular swirl of sparkles. “In these troubled times I am attempting to beautify the world, one sparkle at a time”, she adds.
This is Geenen’s second time exhibiting in a gallery owned by the dynamic duo of D’Amico and Warren. The first time was in their New Orleans gallery, the acclaimed Waiting Room, with a show of drawings called “Offerings to the Orixas”. Besides their New Orleans (and Water Valley) art connections, D’Amico and Geenen share a New Orleans radio connection with WWOZ Radio. For 25 years Geenen produced and hosted a weekly program of Brazilian music. D’Amico produced the weekly Arts Line, featuring gallery listings and other events going on in the New Orleans art world.
This is the first of 4 exhibits to come this year at the Gallery in the Green Room. It will be on display from February 16–April 14. Hours are by appointment. For further information please contact Pati D’Amico at 318-655-2623.
