41 year old William David Pettit of Abbeville, Mississippi.
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, at approximately 7:30 pm, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol on County Road 103, when the Deputy observed a black sedan in his lane while meeting the vehicle in the curve.
The Deputy turned around on the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The vehicle attempted to flee from the Deputy and ended up turning into a residence on County Road 139.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 41 year old William David Pettit of Abbeville, Mississippi, exited the vehicle and ran from the Deputy. The Deputy was able to pursue Mr. Pettit, caught him, and placed him in custody.
Mr. Pettit was then transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. Mr. Pettit is charged with Felony Fleeing, DUI 4th or greater, and several misdemeanor offenses.
Mr. Pettit’s bond is not set because of charges with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
