The Afrissippi Food Truck is owned by former Two Stick owner Chad Henson and is located at the corner of North Lamar and Molly Barr, right in front of The Local Voice building at 1502 White Oak Lane. Chad’s featured cook is Chef Guelel Kumba of Sengal, Africa. Guelel’s dishes are a fusion of West African and Southern American cuisine, and with Chef Henson, the two also add in a World-Fusion of dishes that you just can’t get anywhere in the Oxford and Ole Miss area.
Daily specials include Yassa (a delicious Chicken and Rice dish from Senagal), Bánh mì (a Vietnamese sandwich with Smoked Pork), Jambalaya (locally known as being Cajun, but originally from Africa), and the traditional Southern BBQ Sandwich.
Rotating specials include Chicken Curry, Chicken Tchou (Chicken, Eggplant, Onion, Carrots, Banana, and Coconut Milk served over Saffron Rice), Lamb Chop Attiéké (with Yuca Roots and Cous Cous), Maafe (Lamb or Chicken with a Peanut Sauce), and/or Fonio (African Cereal).
There is a large tent with outdoor seating and plenty of night lights for an atmosphere that is unrivaled in the North Mississippi area.
The Afrissippi Food Truck is open from 11 am to 3 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm Monday-Saturday with additional late night offerings til 1 am Thursday through Saturday.
