The “Hell Yeah Damn Right” singer proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Taylor Mills, at the Graduate Oxford hotel this month.
Young spent some of his college baseball career at Ole Miss before transferring away. Despite not finishing out his collegiate years in Oxford, Mississippi, Young has a soft spot in his heart for the Velvet Ditch. He recently released “Hell Yeah Damn Right,” a tribute to Ole Miss tailgating, and sold out two nights at the Lyric earlier this month.
“We met in Arizona while she was at school at ASU, and we will likely get married there, so I thought it would be romantic to propose where I went to school,” said Young to People magazine. “We were able to get a suite with a large covered patio and the hospitality staff at the hotel set it up while we were at dinner, so it was waiting for us when we got back.”
Young had a custom designed diamond ring made for the proposal that featured both of their initials.
The two dated for six years starting in college but took a break when Young moved to Nashville for his music career.
“There was never any bad blood,” said Young. “It was just the wrong time for us. We recently got back in touch and realized that we were both finally in the same place and knew it was right.”
