Local Performers Unite!
Experiencing an assortment of the arts just got simpler. InterACTions, Oxford’s third annual arts sampler, will take place March 31, 2012 at the Powerhouse Theatre. It will unite dance, music, art and the theatre community in creating a unique, collaborative experience. “It’s rare to have local performance groups come together. We wanted to make it possible for the community to be exposed to various types of the arts.” said Genevieve Fortner, Director of Oxford Ballet School.
InterACTions is an opportunity to learn about the numerous local performing groups in a one night event. Wayne Andrews, the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council Director said, “The Arts Council is proud to be a part of this event as it provides everyone in our community a chance to experience a wide mix of works in one night. Our goal is allow artist to perform and let the community have a place to experience the arts.” InterACTions will feature live performances by Hinge Dance Company, Oxford Acting Studio, and Oxford Ballet School along with live music and an exhibit by local visual artists
Admission to the show is free. The show will be a relaxed, family friendly environment. The gallery will be feature an art sale with proceeds supporting local arts groups while the theatre space will feature two stages offering a variety of performers. Attendants can walk through the spaces sampling the rotating arts while enjoying a tasting of southern foods and beverages. InterACTions will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 7pm-9pm at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center in Oxford.
